When You Take God Out of Everything...

By Thomas Kimble

America was founded by people that had a strong belief in God. In every
situation where the good of the country was in the balance God was
called on for help meetings and swearing in of public officials etc.
The Bile or the use of Gods name was used to make things binding. Hymns
were sung and prayers were said at all occasions both private and public. I
can well remember when we had prayer in school and I cannot ever
remember when I was forced to pray. We were all told to put our heads
on our desks or to bow our heads while a prayer was said, but never were
we required to pray. Public meetings usually either started or ended with
a prayer, during which people either prayed along or just stood with head
bowed in respect. I think that it’s not just a matter of taking God out
of everything but it’s a matter of not having respect for anything
anymore.

We prayed in my home before every meal and my parents were not devoutly
religious, in fact my Father swore like a Calvary sergeant all the
time. There is more to the proposition of taking God out of things than just
the religious implications. When we take God out we also take out a lot
of other important things like the family unit and respect.

America is steeped in tradition and when God is removed so is a large
part of our tradition. I can still remember the feeling I had when at a
public occasion someone said a prayer and it was usually followed by
the playing of the Star Spangled Banner and I have seen even the hardest
men wipe a tear from their eye.

Because of the concept of politically correct we are made to think we
should be ashamed to be Americans and most of all Christians. When
disaster strikes anywhere who is the first to offer the most? America
and Christians are always there doing whatever it takes to try and help
anyone no matter who or what their religious belief.

Religion of all sorts is fundamental in holding the family unit
together and when it is taken out of public and the family both tend to
collapse. Most religions are made up of well meaning people that want only to
live in peace with each other. Only when these religions get perverted by
individuals with evil intentions do bad thing come of them.

God wants us to have him in our hearts and for us to not be ashamed to
say we love him. God must be sad at the way we are trying to make it
against the law to say his name in public.

God wants to be a part of all our lives and he wants us to include him
in all our affairs.

I pray to God to forgive those that would take God out of our lives for
surely they know no what they do.
